Jean Maupertuis - 2024 Pierres Noires

£28.00

Jean Maupertuis was amongst some of the first wines I drank while at Brawn. Always brought a lot of joy to whoever we served them to in the restaurant. Generally very refreshing and full of flavour without much weight at all. This is old vines of Gamay from a lighter vintage. It’s lovely; bright red fruits, with an earthy, peppery element to add really nice complexity. (I’d still call this a light red wine, but there’s a lot to pick up on)
